J-ACTINET Meeting 2011

The J-ACTINET Meeting 2011 was held successfully to strengthen the link between J-ACTINET and ACTINET-I3 in Tokyo on September 1-2, 2011. A fruitful discussion was made on the necessity of actinide science research including training and education in this area. Five leading members of ACTINET-I3 were invited and totally forty nine scientists and engineers from universities, institutes and industries participated in the meeting. Twenty-one presentations were given and a panel discussion was made.

The participants have recognized the necessity of actinide science research for the sustainable development of nuclear technology, i.e. nuclear fuel, reprocessing, geological disposal. It was claimed again and again that training programs should contain practical exercises at actinide research facilities since actinide research fields were limited causing students few chances to come into contact with actinide science.
